A huge virtual clap goes out to Patrik-Ian Polk and the wonderful cast of Noah's Arc Jumping The Broom! Nominations for the 40th NAACP Image Awards were announced in Beverly Hills on Wednesday at The Beverly Hilton Hotel by Corbin Bleu, Audra McDonald, Keke Palmer, Nate Parker and Regina Taylor and our boys earned two nods.
Writer/director Polk earned a nomination for Outstanding Writing In A Motion Picture along with Darnell Martin (Cadillac Records),
Gina Prince-Bythewood(The Secret Life of Bees), Jenny Lumet(Rachel Getting Married), and Paris Qualles(A Raisin In The Sun).
Noah's Arc:Jumping The Broom also received an Outstanding Independent Film nomination and will be competing against 2009 Oscar favorite Slumdog Millionaire, Ballast, Rachel Getting Married, and The Visitor.
Jumping The Broom exceeded expectations at the box office and proved once and for all that there is an audience for stories that reflect the lives of black gay men.
