Congratulations went out earlier this week to comedienne Wanda Sykes and her partner Alex after US Magazine revealed the couple became parents to newborn twins on April 27th.
Alex gave birth to the couple's first children, daughter Olivia Lou and son Lucas Claude. Olivia weighed 6 lbs., 7 oz., and was 19 inches long. Lucas was born at 7 lbs., 9 oz., and was an inch taller than his sister.
The couple were married on October 25, 2008 in California shortly before California voters voted to approve the discriminatory Proposition 8 banning gay marriage.
Sykes publicly came out at a Las Vegas Prop 8 rally during the aftermath of the politically charged vote. Until now the identity of Sykes' wife Alex had been kept under wraps until the above photo surfaced online today.
Countless blogs and message boards have long speculated on the race of Sykes' "unidentified" partner with many in the black gay community silently or explicitly hoping that Alex would indeed be African-American. Judging from the above photo that doesn't seem to be the case.
Whether we want to admit it or not the image of yet another black celebrity involved in an interracial relationship proves to be quite disappointing for some, not to mention Sykes happens to be a high-profile black lesbian.
Having dated outside of my race in the past I'm of the mindset that you really can't control who you fall in love with. If they're happy, I'm happy for them. So why do you think it took so long for this photo to surface? And why is the topic of gay interracial dating still the elephant in the room?

Isn't it amazing how the photo pops up right after Wanda speaks at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner. Funny how that works. Now they are going to pump this up in the news while they pass the National Centers Emergency Act.

Well, look how long it took for her to come out of the closet. I'm sure that was out of fear of "tarnishing" her career. I would imagine that it took so long for her to expose her wife for the same reason. Not only the gay thing but fear of blacks being disappointed. I guess the important thing in both cases is that she did make it known.

I'm shocked that sykes is married 2 a white woman. However, I was thinking 2 myself y should I b shocked? I was anticiparting myself tht she would b black but oh well. As long as they're happy and now that they will b raising children it will make it better. Gay interracial relationships are nt knwn 2 me at this point. I love my brothas and the first I seek then next is latino then arab descent lol.

ok ok, i'll b the FIRST 2 admit that i was afraid of "pink meat" when i was younger, livin in the country (my grandparents are borderline racists)
but now that i'm older, in a bigger city, surrounded my so MANY different cultures & ethnicities, child...i'm willin 2 love ANY man who can love my black ass back

I found the photo also but it's not of Wanda's Alex it's a fan photo and if you search the site origination of that specific photo you'll find the woman who I thinks is boo??24?? she has taken photos of other famous and semi famous stars as well. Sorry but as far as the WEB and even WANDA's official site there's no mention of the children or Alex. Her first name is all we do know. Do a GOOGLE search for WANDA SKYES in images and you'll find this photo and the original location of it.
