I came across this sermon over the weekend by Rev. Jimmy Swaggart on youtube and I'm honestly still in shock by what was said in the video. Gay bashings from the pulpit happen all the time so that alone was not surprising. However, Swaggart takes it a step too far by saying, "If a homosexual ever looked at him funny he would kill him and then tell God he died."

I swear lately I've begun to understand why so many LGBT people have turned their backs on the church. I couldn't even imagine having to sit through a sermon like this every Sunday. I just thank God I'm strong enough not to continue contributing to a church that's a hinderance to my spiritual growth and is damaging to my spirit.

You would think that the good Reverend would know that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. It wasn't too long ago he was begging for forgiveness for having sex with a prostitute.

It's sermon's like this one that emboldens bigots to committ hate crimes and gives other christians justification for their intolerance and hatred. He along with other ministers who subscribe to the same hateful theology should be ashamed. But I guess they have no reason to be because the bible told them so.

I see nothing wrong with Pastor Swaggart comments. He was only making a joke about if a man look at him "that way".

However, show me where God ever accepted homosexuality? NO where in the scriptures has it ever been bless or accepted by God. It has always been a vile, immoral and unclean before the sight of God.

You have the choice to do as you wish, but homosexuals will NEVER receive the blessing or acceptance of God for sin He says is unclean and unholy.

I agree with Pastor Swaggart, I am tired of seeing these weak-minded politicians dancing around this subject; at least our President Bush, who has done well in the White House acknowledge that America cannot stand strong unless we make a constitutional admendment declaring what is right, marriage is between a MAN and WOMAN! Nothing else.

All I can say is that unclean things cannot stand in the presence of God.

@Captain. And you think you are worthy to stand in the presence of God? you must be the cleanest thing around then.

I definately see many things wrong with those comments! Plainly put a joke is something said or done to provoke laughter. I heard no laughter! He was rallying amens and hallelujahs. He wanted participation and I jeard no punchline!

I disagree with bashing the homosexual and then trying to throw grace on them! Absolutely not! What ever happened to believeing in Jesus and the Love of Christ covering a multitude of sins?

@ the captain: Are you Clean? The last time I check we have to work out our own soul salvation and you can't give an account for what others do! So, why bring others down? Why not lift them up and motivate others?
