Hey everyone! I know many of you were wondering what happend to me last week due to the infrequent updates...the airport is what happend. I love my job but I hate delays and terminals that don't have wireless access. I spent much of last week either stranded at Chicago Midway or New York's LaGuardia, and it looks like I'll get to do it all over again this week. But today I'm finally going to get a chance to hang out in D.C. . I've never really had the opportunity to see what the city has to offer for SGL men of color, although I've heard stories . So if you have any recommendations for spots that I need to check out please let me know. I've already been to The White House and George Bush wasn't to thrilled about my presence, it seems I'm everything Karl Rove has taught him to fear, black, gay, registered voter, educated, and smart enough to know Osama Bin Laden caused 9/11 and we should be going after him...lol !

Livin It Up in L.A.

Did you miss me? Judging by the e-mails and phone calls I received from people asking me why the site hadn't been updated I will go with a yes. I missed you guys too, but now I'm officially back. Over the past few days I had a chance to visit the city I once called home for four years, Los Angeles. Initially I was really excited about the trip but that soon wore off once I got there and realized I wasn't missing much by not being there everyday. Don't get me wrong L.A. is a wonderful place and I enjoyed most of the time I spent there and I made some really great friends, but it became so apparent to me that Atlanta is home now.


I did have a chance to go to some of my favorite spots like Roscoes, The Grove, Circus Disco, and Millennium Dance Complex. Going back to the two dance studios where I trained was such a weird experience for me. I remember the excitement that I once had when I entered the studio that has now faded, an uncomfortable reality for me but I'm growing to accept it.

The highlight of my trip was definitely having a chance to see my friends who I haven't seen in a year. I don't have a huge circle of friends because I truly believe it's all about the quality and not the quantity, so the people that I consider friends are extra special to me. A special shout out to Trent, Erica, Alesia, and my new friend Peter.

Where's Darian?

You guessed right. I'm in New York City baby ! I haven't been to the city since 2005 and I'm going to pack everything I possibly can into three days. New York feels like a second home to me. I moved here in 1998 right after high school graduation to attend school and immediately fell in love with the culture, the people, and the abundance of opportunities to work in the entertainment industry. I've been all over the world but I still think New York City is the greatest place on earth. Most people either like New York City or they absolutely hate it, I think you know which category I fall into.

The first thing I'm going to do once I get settled is head down to the Broadway theater and pick up my ticket to see Fantasia in The Color Purple. I'm going to do my best not to be that annoying black person in the audience that's shouting "AMEN" at Fantasia while she's performing. I'm sure there's going to be tons of reuinions with old friends and first meetings with new friends. If you're in the city and you want to say hello then reach out. Off To Indianapolis

Happy Memorial Day! I hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend. From Miami to Washington D.C. and even Puerto Rico, there was an abundance of events for Black gays and lesbians over the weekend. However, my holiday was spent at home in Atlanta preparing for my trip to Indianapolis. I will be spending the next three weeks training for my new career as a stewardess...I mean flight attendant. LOL!

I've been told that training is very intense and every day is an audition. I will continue to blog while I'm there, but I'm going to rely heavily on a few very talented guest columnists that will be sharing their gifts on the site during my absence.

I've got some really great posts coming your way this week and I can't wait to share them all with you. Thanks for all of the prayers and well wishes, your support means the world to me. A Day In D.C.

Over the past couple of weeks I've had the pleasure of traveling to Chicago and Indianapolis for business and yesterday I flew to Washington D.C. for the day. I've always wanted to visit D.C. but I've never had the opportunity until yesterday. To say that I was excited about this trip would be an understatement. After my morning meeting I had 4 hours to take in as much of the city as I possibly could before I had to fly back to Atlanta.

My cab driver obviously could see the word tourist written all over my forehead, because he thought he could convince me to pay him one hundred dollars round trip . Please! I boarded the metrobus and paid six dollars round trip, I'm nobody's fool. Remind me never to fly into Washington Dulles, it's a hike into downtown D.C. !

I managed to stroll down to Pennsylvania Avenue to see The White House up close. President Bush and I were supposed to sit down and discuss the Federal Marriage Amendment and the Don't Ask Don't Tell Policy with a public apology to all LGBT Americans to follow on the White House lawn, but he was busy dodging impeachment. LOL !

There's still so much of the city I haven't seen, so I've got to plan another trip in the near future. Despite the extremely hot weather I was elated to finally walk the streets of D.C.(no pun intended) .
