The Connecticut Supreme Court has just ruled 4 to 3 that same-sex couples must have the freedom to marry. Connecticut is now the third U.S. state, after Massachusetts and California, to institute marriage equality.
In a 4-3 decision released this morning, the majority found in Kerrigan & Mock v. Dept. of Public Health that the state's "understanding of marriage must yield to a more contemporary appreciation of the rights entitled to constitutional protection."
