I need your help guys. I've been doing a lot of reading lately, and that's big for me because I usually don't have the time to devote myself to completing an entire novel. But over the past couple of weeks I've read E. Lynn Harris' memoir What Becomes of the Brokenhearted and most recently Lazarus by Rashid Darden.

I've been trying to get in contact with Rashid over the past few days and I've exhausted all of my contacts and I still haven't been successful. I know the black gay community is big yet small, so I know somebody that reads this blog either knows Rashid or knows someone who knows him. So I'm counting on you guys to let him know that I'm looking for him.

Does this sound stalkerish(I know that's not a word)? LOL! Seriously, I loved the book and I want to talk to the man. A full review will be coming soon. Hey, I know the book is three years old but it's new to me. Thanks!

Good question man! I'm currently rereading Lazarus and its just as good as it was the first time.

I personally don't know him, but did hear from him in Aug 2007. I preordered his second novel around the end of 06 and never received it. In Aug of 07, he sent out an email to everyone that preordered it apologizing for the delay and just saying that he was going through some personal and professional troubles. Attached to the email was an e-version of the second novel. He still promised a hard copy, but that has yet to come.

He does have a website and use to do a blog, but that hasn't been updated since Aug of 07 as well.

I hope you find him. Let him know that his fans want to hear from him!

Hey Darian, I've been pondering the same thing. I learned about him in May of last year and decided to make Lazurus a part of my growing library of books. In the process, I ordered the book and after it took awhile [4 or so weeks] to get there I did a little research to track him down. I finally recieved an email from him apologizing for the delay and he sent me a personalized autograhed copy. The last thing I saw from him was a video where he was interviewed...and that was aug/sept of last year. Anyway, I'd love to see what he's been up to..so keep us posted. And as always, keep doing what you do for the community.

This is Rashid.

My email address was NOT given out in order to be posted publicly.

That said, Covenant is STILL on the way. In the email I sent out last year I mentioned problems with my previous book manufacturer. I am now in the process of securing a new book manufacturer to satisfy all of the fans of Adrian, Savion, Isaiah, Nina, and Beta Chi Phi. :-)

I wish I could tell you precisely when that will happen, but I have retained an assistant to help out with the administrative details.

I am eager to again reach a point in my life where I can make cranking out novels a priority.

Much love,
Rashid

PS - I don't think you're a stalker. :-D
