The New York Senate approved marriage equality in the Empire State with a vote of 33-29 with bipartisan support.

Today’s decision is about New York’s loving and committed gay and lesbian couples who want to make a lifelong promise to love and take care of each other and their families. Marriage equality in New York allows them to do just that. -GLAAD

Happy Pride!

New York had also been one of the two states, along with DC recognizing out of state same-sex marriages before they had gotten same-sex Marriage.

This is great news for Gays in America! That makes six states having same-sex marriages. (California would have made it seven states but enforcement of that Proposition 8 not being unconstitution decision has been stayed pending appeal. California does not currently allow same-sex marriages to be performed. Same-sex marriages performed before Prop 8 was passed remain valid.)
