It's almost hard to believe that 21-year old fashion designer LaQuan Smith is making such a name for himself in the fashion industry without that little reality show called Project Runway. Reality TV has become the new "go see" as shows like American Idol, America's Next Top Model, & Project Runway have become the springboard for otherwise unknown talent.


A New York City transplant via Delaware, Marlyland, Smith taught himself to sew using his grandmother's machine and upon graduating from high school landed an internship at Black Book Magazine where he was able to learn the ins and outs of the business. At 21 his designs have already rocked the catwalk at New York's Fashion Week.



A master of self promotion Smith can often be seen around town in his own designs. DailyCandy.com has an interesting piece on the flamboyant and creative designer whose outrageous creations have been worn by Rihanna & gay icon Lady GaGa.
