Via @PatrikIanPolk on Twitter comes two very early promo images of the first black gay series Noah's Arc. As someone who can't resist posting beautiful images of black gay couples(mainly because we don't see enough of these images)I had to post them here for all to see.

According to Polk the two black and white promo shots were created pre-LOGO on his personal laptop. Who would have imagined that this small series would have the cultural impact that it's had back in the beginning when it was just an idea Polk came up with on a night out on the town over Black Gay Pride weekend?

Where were you when you saw Noah's Arc for the first time and what was your reaction? Favorite episode?

I first saw Noah's Arc in the summer of 2005 at the Philadelphia LGBT Film Festival (now known as QFest). Patrik Ian-Polk was there along with Jensen Atwood,Darryl Stephens and Rodney Chester. We watched the original series pre-MTV/Logo and enjoyed it. I remember my best friend saying he thought there was too much sex and I said to him, this is the first time you get to see us on the big screen in a positive light and that's your criticism? Lol... Although I have my issues with the show..I still enjoy it and am glad it was/is as successful as it has been. I wish Punks would be released already. It’s a shame that there are tons of people who have never seen this film which has almost become like the Loch Ness Monster…

I was at a friends house when he was watching it on Logo (back at home we don't have Logo so it was treat) and as I was watching it, I was shocked and VERY INTERESTED RIGHT AFTER. I was hooked. I ended up going to Logos website later to see the previews of the show. Excellent since the day I first laid eyes on it.

I miss "Noah's Arc." It was a bit fantastical, but wow, what a great series.

I never understood people who criticized Noah's Arc.

"They are too femme!"

"Black gay people don't live like this!"

Even though the show reached heights unheard of for black gay representation on television, some people still hated it. It's almost like they were upset by seeing black gay men who were (relatively) happy and not on the DL! I don't know about you, but my group of friends fit into the show's characterizations of black gay life. It goes to show that some people just can't be satisfied.

I do wish Punks would be released, but I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen.
