The Young and Evil is a new film by openly gay writer/director and Harvard University graduate Julian Breece. In his debut project Breece delivers a dramatic short about a defiantly promiscuous black gay teen who sets out to seduce an HIV-positive man into infecting him with the virus.

The film stars newcomer Vaughn Lowery and has screened at film festivals all over the country, most recently at Outfest in Los Angeles and the San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival to sold out crowds.

Frameline, a company devoted to supporting the diversity of the LGBT community in film and media awarded Breece $5,000 to assist in completing The Young and Evil.

Alarmed by the rise in new HIV infections among black gay and bisexual men, Breece and producer Aaliyah Williams hope to start a discussion with their new film around the nonchalant attitudes many gay and bisexual men have adopted in the era of anti-retroviral drugs.

The Young and Evil will be seen next on August 21-27 at The Palm Springs International Shorts Festival.

The extended trailer is available online and definitely accomplishes its goal to create interest in the film. Check out the trailer below and keep your eyes and ears open for director Julian Breece and The Young and Evil.

Thanks Bernie!

Looks interesting! I'm sorry I missed it at Outfest.

Too bad FUSION (LGBT POC film fest) isn't happening until March 2009

Cool blog

Great film. And Vaughn Lowery was fabulous in it. Put his past acting roles to shame. I ordered it via Amazon.com. It's part of a four-movie series of short films. If you want to order it for your own home library. The name of the series is: Boys Life 7, by Kyle Bornheimer. The other three shorts are just so-so or average in my opinion. But 'Young and Evil' is powerful.
