It is with a heavy heart that I report the loss of an incredible person and dancer Mr. Gabriel Paige. Gabriel's life expired on July 15th in Los Angeles and his body was laid to rest last week surrounded by family and friends in his hometown of Chicago. The cause of death is unknown at this time.

This is a devastating loss to the L.A. dance community. Many of you may recognize Gabriel as one of Britney Spears' longtime back-up dancers. Gabriel was with Britney from the very beginning and his beautiful technique and well defined body was frequently showcased in the singer's music videos as well as her live tours.

I had the pleasure of working with Gabriel a few years ago on an episode of MAD TV and he was simply a joy to be around. I always admired his skill and his ability to masterfully navigate through the demanding challenges the entertainment business presented dancers in Hollywood. Dancers usually work the hardest and get very little to no recognition.

I'm happy Gabriel was able to see many of his dreams come true before God called him home. He will truly be missed.

Gabe and I were best friends in college. He was the 1st person I met. We danced in our college dance company together. After we graduated, we moved to LA and I worked at Morolandis and he interned at Tremaine. Just a month ago. He told me via email that he was moving back to Chicago and since I recently moved back to Indiana, we were going to reconnect.

Thank you for posting such a lovely message for someone I loved very much.

While in college, Lorna Murff introduced me to Gabe and we hit it off from the start. Those two were dreamers just like me and I loved it. After graduation we moved to LA searching for stardom.
All we had was a couple of dollars, big dreams, and a lot of determination. Gabe's dreams came true and I was so proud of him. The thought of him not being here sadness me.

Thanks for your kind words,

I just heard from our old H.S. director Steve Shepard that Gabe passed away.
Gabe was one of my best friends in H.S. We both ran like hell to get out of where we grew up and just lost touch.
We all knew Gabe was an amazing talent back then. I had no idea he'd gone on to such great things during his life. He truly made every moment of everyone of his days count.
Gabe was one of my best friends back then and I am so sad to hear about his death. I wish I had told him how much he helped me change my life.

Gabe would have been 35 today, April 18th. Please check out the blog entry of January 9, 2009 on Popservations entitled “Are we human or are we dancer?” dedicated to Gabe. You were a co-worker, a classmate, and most importantly, a friend to me. Happy Birthday!

It's Lorna again....It's been almost a year since Gabe's passing. It's especially hard now that Michael Jackson has passed away. For those of you who knew us, you would have thought we were Michael & Janet (in our own special way.)
My son was born on Gabe's birthday..something I'll never forget.
I think of him everyday. When I watch, "So You Think You can Dance", I am thinking of him. My love for dance has faded...but I intend to revive it...
Greg if you check this site again..check me out on facebook..sugaface5@yahoo.com is my email. Love all of you that loved Gabe.

Thanks.

WOW I am blow away!!! I just today found out thru some college friends of Gabe passing. He and I met in college and shared a special quirky friendship every since. Briefly when I was in LA a several years ago we got to see eachother. I was looking forward to seeing him at our college reunion. I am thankful that the Lord allowed him to grace us with his presence for the time he did. Gabe touched so many in so many different ways it is unbelieveable! I am thankful to have known him and rejoice that he was living his dreams. Now he dances truly with the stars!!!

Baby Boy I love you always...you were my very special friend in our time and space..

Gabe was such a great friend of mine in high school! We use to dance in the street in front of my house and he would choreograph the most amazing dances and moves! Not to mention he was funny and loving. A lot of people didn't get him in high school but I DID and I will miss him so much. I knew he'd make something of his wonderful dance talent! He will be missed.

So I stumbled on this page while looking up old dance friends on facebook, so you can imagine my surprise at typing in Gabe's name and this appearing. I am truly sorry to hear that Gabe is no longer with us. Gabe and I were principal dancers in the dance company in college and were always paired together. I enjoyed working with him and I learned so much about myself from working with Gabe. I am truly, truly heartbroken by his passing. I was really happy for him when I found out he was dancing for Brittany as all he talked about was dancing for Janet and me becoming a "Janet". You were a true talent Gabe. RIP my brother.
