My new year's resolution is one that is shared by many Americans and one that is often neglected several days after the euphoria of the new year is over;to lose weight. You would never guess by looking at me that I'm 190 pounds standing at only 5'9...at least that's what I've been saying for years. For my height I'm considered to be quite overweight. I have a history of diabetes on both sides of my family and I'm afraid that I will be the next person diagnosed if I don't change my eating habits and take control of my weight. I'm not fat by any means and in comparison to people who actually struggle with a serious weight problem I really shouldn't be complaining, but my newly formed love handles are causing me to spring into action.

I've never been one for gym memberships, I pay my money and work out a few times(more dance classes than weight training)and never return. So in 2008 I'm not even going to lie to myself and say I'm gonna run down to the nearest Gold's Gym and work it out because it's not going to happen.

However, in less than three weeks the boyfriend and I will be taking the plunge and moving into a beautiful apartment complex in Atlanta with a fully equipped state of the art gym. Hello treadmill and goodbye love handles!!

I've got a few naysayers who don't believe that I will stay committed to an exercise regimen so you know I'm all about proving them wrong. I look forward to shedding at least 15 pounds and getting back to my old weight of 175 and back into my size 32 jeans.

Wish me luck and I'll keep you guys posted. Also check out this cool resolutions video from the folks at HRC.
