The Facts:

Yesterday in Orlando, Florida prominent Black ministers joined forces with Alan Chambers , president of Exodus International in a press conference to denounce the proposed Federal Hate Crimes Act of 2007, written by openly gay politicians Barney Frank and Tammy Baldwin.

Bishop Larry Jackson, Pastor and musician Marvin Winans and others gathered to display their opposition to a bill that would lend support to state and local authorities to investigate and prosecute crimes based on race, sexual orientation, and gender identity. During the press conference the Black ministers took the opportunity to once again reject the notion that the movement for gay equality is similar to the civil rights movement.

"We stand today with many in the African-American community who also recognize that one's sexuality can be changed, but one's skin color cannot." We call upon Congress to promote legislation that affirms authentic equality and protects our religious freedoms, said Alan Chambers, "former homosexual" and leader of Exodus International.

The Human Rights Campaign has launched a massive effort to see that this billed is passed. It would be a landmark victory in the struggle for LGBT equality in America. A vote is expected to take place as early as Monday. The HRC has sent out an e-mail blast uncovering the lies and fear tactics these two groups are using to kill this very important piece of legislation.

THEIR LIE: "This bill would punish thoughts and criminalize free speech."

THE TRUTH: This bill will punish vicious criminals who attack members of our communities simply because of who they are. The bill does not criminalize thoughts or speech; it only covers crimes involving bodily injury or attempted bodily injury.

THEIR LIE: "This bill gives homosexuals special treatment."

THE TRUTH: The current hate crimes law excludes violence against a person because of his or her sexual orientation, gender identity, gender or disability. There is nothing “special” about wanting to live free of violence in our society.

My Thoughts:

When I first received the e-mail today informing me that Black ministers had taken it upon themselves to join in with the KKK I was outraged! And I use the term KKK loosely when referring to Exodus International, because the truth is Alan Chambers and his followers have an agenda and that agenda does not include anything that really matters to the majority of the Black community.

The very same people that Bishop Jackson and Pastor Winans are standing with are the same group of people who beat and murdered their people less than sixty years ago. And why? The color of their skin. When are these Black preachers going to learn that anti-gay bigots like Alan Chambers and Dr. James Dobson only call on them when they need a black face to spread their hateful message disguised as "tough Christian love" into the Black community? They have come to further divide our community and they're using religion to get the job done.

Since when did it become a bad thing to want to live in a society free of violence? Or to be able to walk down the street and not fear that your life is in danger because you're gay or perceived to be? Will somebody please tell these media hungry and misguided ministers that by supporting this legislation they won't be perceived as pro gay or going against God's will? I'm starting to wonder if these people actually have a heart. The last time I checked, God's desire was that all of his children experience love and not unfair discrimination or wrongful death.

The actions of these ministers and the right wing in this country is beyond scary. They have become the Bull Connor of the LGBT rights movement. The more they denounce the similarities between the two movements, the more apparent they become, at least to me. White LGBT folk continue to be the face of what it looks like to be gay in this country and Black gays and lesbians are being left out of the discussion. If we don't come out and tell our stories these people will tell them for us.

Where were these ministers when Michael Sandy died? Why didn't they rush to console Rashawn Brazell's mother after her son's body parts were found in bags all over New York City? Where were they when Sakia Gunn was murdered? Or when Kevin Aviance was beaten and left for dead? Didn't they meet at least one requirement by the NAACP and the Religious Hypocrites of America? They were all Black, but nobody came because they were also gay.

There is a need for this bill in our country and if they're too blinded by the spotlight and overflowing collection plates on Sunday to see that then we have an even bigger problem. In a perfect we would all be treated as equals. Now imagine that.

Personally, I do not support this bill that sits in congress.

This bill would say to society that the gay community will have special rights in criminal law to prosecute any other member of society that commits a crime just because they belong in a special community. Homosexuals and the entire gay community think about themselves. As much as the gay community wish to assimiliate into the fabric of the America culture in depth, they still want special rights and offset excection handling. How can this be equal?

If someone commits a crime against you, and you claim that you are gay, automatically that person is charged with a hate crime. That is silly!

I don't find this bill will be healthy and supportive in society for the entire commonwealth.

You homsexuals use the term "human rights", but let me ask- WHAT IS HUMAN RIGHTS?

I don't think this supports "human rights!"

All the more reason why I have to support the Republican party.

Supporting democratic "leaders" is like helping them hand America to Satan as a gift with a big red bow on it!

I'm so tired of the "homosexuality = changeable = evil" argument. It sets up the most evil moral standard.

Argument: people of color deserve our civil rights because we can't change our race.

Translation: people of color are 'worthy' of equal rights because white people can't make us white!

Secondly, can someone remind these pastors that your religion is changeable? If you're being persecuted because of your religion, why don't you just change it?

Right. Because you shouldn't have to!

I find this legislation sick! Why would anyone in their right mind support a legislation that would favor a group of people more over the rest of society? If someone becomes a victim of a senseless crime, God forbid, and they catch the suspect, I want that person charged according to law, not charged on the victim’s sexual orientation. However, if the victim is a homosexual, the criminal charges are elevated just because the victim is gay. I think that is stupid! That is biased! This legislation will grant higher privileges to gays over the rest of society. How is that fair?

I don’t advocate violence and no one should be hurt. Everyone deserves the common respect to live in a safe environment. However, that does not mean that we have to welcome your gay agenda in our school system, families and churches. The only way homosexuality is strengthened is through the recruitment of children and innocent people who fall prey to this spiritual matrix of confusion, rejection, incest, insecurity, Ahab, and strife, justing naming a few root causes.

Dr. Paula Price defines homosexuality as “an observance of ancient pagan fertility rights where persons of the same sex copulate in worship of old spirits that require offerings. Without a female organ, the sex act is performed rectally, it is the mode of this action that Creator God condemns because it mixes the male seed, which is to bring life with fecal waste therefore death prevails.” You have to understand how unclean that is. “Historically homosexuality flourishes when pagan spirits are revived and worshipped. “The first to promote lesbianism is a woman by the name of Saffo, she confessed the name of the ancient female whose writings and cultic practices sponsored and promo gated lesbianism, which is also called Saffism. She was credited in her day for writing several homosexually erotic pieces celebrating woman to woman sex acts. She confessed her inspiration for such writings and her promotion of lesbianism among the young women, who sought her for mentorship, came from her visits to and from the goddess Aphrodite. One of the remaining fragments, her poems and recounts is her romantic rendezvous with the goddess who she revered as her lover and patron deity”.

This is all the more reasons why homosexual SHOULD NOT be promoted within the fabric of this nation. America was built by God and if we reject God by promoting this vile, immoral lifestyle, or any legislation that would perpetuate the advancement of the gay agenda, we will surely be judged and loose our place of greatness.

To visit gay blogs is to only sek the origination of the sick mindset breeding in our communities I have to witness inflicting pain and divsion in families and homes across this nation. No wonder people are emotionally, spiritually, sexually and physically messed up!

LOL. Let me repeat myself. The Captain is to be shunned. engaging him in dialogue merely validates him in his own mind... he hasn't gotten over being voted "most likely to suck a dick" by his graduating class.

I am transgender but I'm not black. My father was a local head of the KKK in the 1950's in Akron, Ohio. From personal experience there was no more of a hate-filled man and group of people. Follow the path of hate in any form for any reason and that hate will doom you to the burning Hell you so fear.

Sounds to me like either a jealousy problem or Dr. Price has a bad case of penis envy.
