I haven't written about American Idol this season simply because I've been really dissapointed with the talent this year. The only reason I know about the show's front runners Lakisha, Melinda, and Jordan is because Keith keeps me updated.

Well I caught last night's episode on accident and had a chance to see Lakisha Jones' rendition of Fantasia's "I Believe". When it was announced that she was singing this signature Fantasia song, I knew that her feedback from the judges wouldn't be good. Despite the fact she had major pitch problems, she just doesn't have the power that Fantasia does. The entire time I was comparing her to Fantasia. Lakisha is definitely talented but I think she needs to stop singing songs that will force her to compete with past American Idol winners.

There is only one Fantasia and when she sings, she sings from the pit of her soul. Check out the clip of Fantasia's winning moment on American Idol and I'm sure you'll agree.

I still get a little misty eyed when I see the clip of 'Tasia Mae's (my fellow North Carolinian and play cousin) win. People may say what they want about her, but she is tha truth! She is truly blessed and thankful and comes across as real - I believe it's genuine.

Jordin is going to win anyway, so whatever.
