You all know him or you've heard about him. He's the angry "straight guy" who frequents gay blogs and leaves the most hateful comments that you'll most likely only hear from the likes of Rev. Fred Phelps or Tim Hardaway. He calls himself The Captain and last night I seized the opportunity to find out who he really is and what drives him to engage in such mean-spirited attacks on the LGBT community. Our conversation was interesting, frustrating, and enlightening at the same time.
Ever since I started writing this blog he has been a consistent presence in the comments section. Many of you have argued back and forth with him on this site as well as others, so today I thought I would give you not only a visual of the person behind the attacks, but the voice, and the one of a kind personality that always seems to get a rise out of people.

Why? Why even try to make sense? The only question i really wanted answered was why the dude visits all these gay blogs if he's leaving the "lifestyle" alone.

ReplyDelete@Darian: I really enjoy your conersation with him. It appears he's dealing wih alot of things. Captain also has God complicated in his mind, on what God approves, or anything else for human beings. Darian good job for trying to get into his mind and see what's going on in there. We all have our paths of life to walk!
ReplyDeleteHey Darian, man I have to tell u that was a great conversation that you had with the Captain. As I was listen to him I heard sadness, I heard self doubt, loneliness and pain. I don't hear happiness or any type of joy in his tone and for him to be a hard core Christian, I would think that he would had been more confident sounding in his tone, I didn’t' get that at all, he seemed very timid. I think he got out of the gay life becuz he was hurt, let down and unappreciated by the gay men he came in contact with and that led him to deny his feelings, and its sending him to a pit of pain, I know God does not want was to deny who we are cuz its not a healthy thing to do, so I hope Captain opens his eyes and go back to who he really is so that he can feel the joy he is meant to feel,

I see people are quick to make assumptions, but I can say these things are false.

I heard nothing but pain when I was listening to this podcast. I hope that you find what you are looking for man. Whether you settle into your new life as a heterosexual or come to love yourself as a homosexual, I hope you at least find peace of mind.

Welcome to my blog palancheq. I don't make it a habit to record phone calls. I just "forgot" to tell The Captain I was recrding until the very end. He was a good sport and told me he would have given me permission to record our conversation anyway. Do you know you're the second person that has told me it's against the law. Calm down people it was all in good fun...lol !
