You've got to watch this! I'm not sure Ted Haggard is the man Bishop Eddie Long wants defending him given his meth-smoking, male prostitute employing past but he showed up on Anderson Cooper 360 last night to talk out of both sides of his hypocritical neck. Thankfully, Pastor Troy Sanders of Victory for The World Church in Atlanta and friend of loldarian.com exposed Haggard and the oppressive theology espoused by Long and his ilk in front of a national audience.
And the money quote from Pastor Troy: "It didn't take a scandal for me to come out and walk in truth. I called myself on the carpet and others,so there's other options besides waiting until we get into scandal to be called on the carpet around walking in truth."
AMEN!

I loved what Pastor Troy had to say. I am glad to know that there are some people in ATL willing to call Eddie Long to the carpet about his hypocrisy. On my blogsite, i also talked about the blind faith people put in this MAN that in my opinion allowed him to prey on these young men.

I am not homophobic but as a life-long Christian I have grown up believing that practicing homosexuals should not be in the pulpit. After hearing Pastor Troy arguments and seeing what is going on in our churches I am really thinking. I do respect your stance Pastor Troy and your honesty. (lvp)

Ted defending Eddie was laughable and very fitting. Troy was very eloquent in his delivery and proved his points...Im still chuckling over the segment being called "Keeping Them Honest"..lol

Now Darian, I love ya. I really do. But, the other ironic twist to this interesting debate is that it is being moderated by non other than Anderson Cooper. He doesn't have to come out, but....

Bravo Troy! I hope to see you representing SGLs more. I liked your delivery; you smashed Ted with such repose. More important, you represented us all Well. Thanks! I'll keep a look out for you.

I am sorry if it is offensive...but if any of the people who are "biblical" can pls explain how they choose to ignore the facts that eating shrimp is forbidden, eating catfish is forbidden, eating pork is forbidden, women preaching is forbidden and hell, even divorce...basically what the black church is full of which is "thrice married, pork chop and catfish eating folks who go see their lady pastor every Sunday" can sit there and then state that the "Bible says being gay is wrong"...would love to hear it...and I swear if someone opens up with "Well...the Old Testament said this but it doesn't matter now..."---Imma bust a cap...lol!!! Bottom lines---
The church is full of humans including gays.
Church folk have been and will continue to be "entertained" by these church leaders who tell them to give their money to them, turn their lives over to them and basically follow them blindly.
The church leaders are people that power has definitely gone to their head and they feel untouchable.
Simply put---the main reason I think people don't want to believe that Bishop Long did any of this is not because he is uncapable of such acts---they don't want to come to terms with the fact that the man of God that they held in such admiration may very well be a homo-sex-y'all and they will look like fools---noone wants to look like a fool...so pretty much, it's also about pride and we all know that they say pride goeth before...

@Anonymous I---
Really...practicing homosexuality is the only way to get it right, girlfriend! So who then is "qualified" to lead---straight dudes who sleep with their secretary? I am seriously surprised that the very idea that someone could be gay and lead a church without abusing his/her power such as the ones that we have seen in the past 20+ years do...amazes me.
@ Anonymous II---
The irony is crystal clear---but it goes back to the old problem...once you are "one of them" and you are talking to someone who is against "one of them"...then how valid is your point being that you are "one of them" as well..? We want to live in a world where scholarly debate can take place, however, if you can't even see someone as an equal, then how can the debate take place...this country was founded on the very fact that the difference in skin color/nationality/race will either lift you up or slam you down...

i really believe that if these allegations are true,then bishop long prob.should have did his d.l. biz with someone at his level.another bishop/pastor and someone who was gay/bi/dl.he prob would not be in the news about this scandal if those young men were'nt straight, as thier attorney stated.so now they're confused, angry, and troubled entering thier prime adulthood..wat a mess this is.

Where does it say in the Bible eating pork or shrimp is a sin? Stop justifying your actions by pointing to something else that has nothing to do with another. Referring to Old Testament dietary laws given to the Jews in the desert. If you read your Bible, Jesus says that all food is fit to eat but to give thanks to God. Homosexuality is a sin. But I am not one of those people who shout it from the mountain top as if it is not forgivable because it is. Nonetheless, it is a sin, just like fornication is a sin. I can not call myself a minister of the gospel and I am fornicating everyday. I think it's ridiculous when people try to justify their actions by saying women can't preach in the Bible so it's ok for me to fornicate. No that just doesn't work. Sin is sin. Cultural issues are an entirely different thing and they are debatable but not sin.
