Something tells me that this was an inside thought that he let escape out of his mouth by accident. Is there a human being roaming the earth in 2009 that doesn't understand the word faggot is offensive?

Suspended NFL Kansas City Chiefs player Larry Johnson's agent Peter Schafer spoke on the record to TMZ last week and only made matters worse for the troubled football star: "We know the N-word is unacceptable, that's not disputable -- but f*g? I'm learning that there's a segment of our society that finds it offensive and that it should not be used. I didn't realize that, but I do know now..."

Johnson received a one game suspension and an estimated loss of 60,000 after yelling to reporters "to get their faggot ass out of here" in the locker room last Monday. Johnson also repeatedly hurled the anti-gay slur to a fan on Twitter.

He later apologized saying the "word was used in frustration and they were not appropriate." Johnson's father also condemned his son's use of the word lamenting, "It’s not how he was raised. That’s just not who we are and not what we believe."

It's very telling that Schafer wouldn't dare utter the N word in public but up until his moment of enlightenment last week found it acceptable to use derogatory anti-gay language. The old adage "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" is a lie. Words have power and when they're used to incite hatred or violence towards an unprotected & disrespected minority the results can be fatal.

Schafer and Johnson deserves the Ne**O PLEASE AWARD OF THE YEAR.

In the 50s and 60s, there was a successful BLACK civil rights movement. One of the things that movement made clear was that it was unacceptable for a white person to use the word "nigger" in public.

The LGBT movement is still a work "in progress". We have to make our case. BTW, I've heard others say the same thing Larry Johnson's agent said. For example, not long ago I heard radio host, Tom Joyner, say it on his radio show.

LGBT people are still on our way to full legal acceptance in American life. Obama's signing of the hate crime bill has put us on the federal map, so to speak. But we've still got a ways to go.

One day the word "faggot" will be just as unacceptable in public as the word "nigger" is now.

Words are indeed very powerful. I heard about it online and it's really a shame. Hopefully he is sorry and I'm sure that $60,000 make the dent a little bigger as well.
