As promised Loldarian.com has been supplied with a limited number of Noah's Arc: Jumping The Broom DVD's for the hardcore fans and loyal readers of this blog courtesy of Paramount Home Entertainment.

If you made the trip to any of the big box retailers last week then you probably noticed they were sold out. It looks like consumer demand for this DVD was underestimated similar to the demand in theaters.

To win your copy of Jumping The Broom simply explain how the show has impacted your life and answer the four trivia questions below in the comment section. I'll also need you to e-mail me your answers as well. Three winners will be chosen by Trey(my other half) on Friday. I tried my best to make the questions really hard, but I'm sure hardcore Noah's Arc fans won't have any problem. Good luck!

Noah's Arc Trivia Questions

Noah's Arc premiered at very poignant time in my life. I was a college sophomore and I'd recently come out.
My friends and I (gay and straight) would watch the show at our friends off campus apartment since we lived in the dorms and didn't have LOGO. It was such a strange experience because we'd never really had any substantial black gay images on television. It typically sparked a few hours of post-show conversation in which we discussed media, the black experience, and the gay experience. What I loved was the fact that we were able to dialogue about the show in "mixed company." It wasn't just gay men, it was gay women and heterosexuals as well. It was a great forum. Everyone took something away from the show. I think the most important message it conveyed was that gay relationships are exactly like straight relationships. Some of my straight friends would ask a lot of questions about how a relationship worked between two guys.It was hard to explain to them that it was basically the same with slightly different dynamics depending on the couple. After all love is love. The show really stripped being "black & gay" down down to the basics. Beyond the stereotypes, condemnation & racism we're people who feel and love.

During Pride in 2008 I went to the meet the cast of the movie at the Renaissance Hotel and I fell in love with them all over again. Soon after that I went to see the movie with two very close friends and it sort of showed us that there is hope. We're young, 22 - 24 and it's often difficult to see ourselves finding our ideal guy so we're slightly jaded--well I am. I hate movies with "Hollywood happy endings" and this movie didn't give me that. I didn't feel that things ended unrealistically, things we're resolved but everyone wasn't completely satisfied, which is how life is. I love the show, I think the cast is great and Patrick Ian Polk is amazing (I love his music!). Thanks So Much Darian!
*crosses fingers*

I heard about Noah's Arc way before LOGO decided to pick up the series. It was like a breath of fresh air to see something new for a change. Also as a young, gay African-American to see a reflection of himself and friends displayed each week that went against the stereo-typical Black gay images of the past. The character that impacted me the most was Junito. He was one of the best additions to the cast and I loved his spirit. I also am HIV-positive and it was a nice change to see a positive minority portrayed in a positive light and not in a negative one.

I will never forget the day that Noah's Arc made a big impact on my life. Me and my Husband a huge fight because he cheated on me, so I left and when to visit my mother in Dallas. About eight o'clock one saturday night I was on the Internet and the T.V. behind me was on, then suddenly I heard these words from S2-E6(Under Pressure)This is classic you, Noah
You want to have your cake and eat it too. You want to be the good guy, and make everybody happy, while you just do what you want anyway. Why don't you sleep with someone else? That usually solves your problems.
Those words express exactly what I was feeling and what I was going through at the time, so I turn around and finished watching the episode. As luck would be episode 7 came on next, I went into the living room and say to my mother "Mommy you gotta check this show out". We both watch the show together and my mother fell in love with the show, it broth back a little memory for her because her childhood best friend was gay and that was something that I didn't know about my mother. Personaly I love the show and I do not care what the sexuality of the character are. Some of the characters statement is what speaks to me, I can truly relate.
When I went back home which is located in San Antonio right away I switch from Dish Network to Direct TV and then I found out that the show got cancel which was a total bummer for me but because of the Internet I was able to follow the show and now today I've read just about everything that involves Noah's ARC, I've seen the promos, webisodes, both season, I have magazine, I've listen to all the podcast and the blog radio show.
When Noah's Arc Jumping the Broom came out in October I just had to see it so I drove to Houston by myself one Friday after dropping my daughter off at school, I hall ass to make it to the 11o'clock show and then I hall ass to make it back home to pick up my daughter from school. I love the so much that I was smiling the whole way Home and talking to myself. In November the movie came out in Dallas around Thankgiving weekend which made me very happy, of course you know that I had to do it again, so I did and on Thankgiving night I took my mother to the Movie, we both love the show and no I did not take any other family member along because I didn't want to hear any negative comments and my mother is not a judgemental person she just want to enjoy her life as she get older. I can go on and on about Noah's Arc but it's time for me to answer the Trivia questions.

1. What is the name of Alex's HIV Clinic? The Black Aids Institute

2. Which natural disaster occurred on episode 1 of the second season which also served as the episode title? Earthquake / Housequake

3. What is the name of Ricky's retail store on Melrose Avenue? Trade Analysis*

4. Which supporting male actor appears in the film that does not appear in the TV Series? Gary LeRoi Gray, who plays Brandon

P.S. - I have to say that I read your Blogs everyday I'ts my Home page, I admire you for you and I like the fact that you're on top of everything. May God continued to Bless You. lol

Wow! I really don't know how to articulate it succinctly but, I will try. I've known, or at least thought I knew, most of my life that I was gay. One of the shows that helped me become more comfortable and explore more was Queer As Folk. While the show was mostly larger than life and catered to and reflected the Caucasian side of gay life, I was able to see that others felt like I did. The show also taught me some life lessons and how to protect myself. I watched religiously for all five seasons. However, I still yearned to see the same thing from the black point of view. Along comes Noah's Arc to the rescue. I have to tell you that this show has been great, though short-lived. One of the things that frustrates me is that people, even white gays, talk about black men as being hyper sexual and materialistic. Well, this show does perpetuate some of that but, I love the way that Patrick Ian-Polk shows the dimensions and maturity levels along this path we call life. I can identify with each character at some stage in my life and, like most of them, had the ultimate goal of marriage. The show, and more so the movie, really gave me a springboard to address issues in my own life, love, and relationships. Many times it's hard to articulate exactly how you feel about something that happens or what's affecting our community. Both the show and the movie did an excellent job of addressing many of those issues (infidelity, sex, drugs, relationships, love, money, etc.) I cannot be more thankful for that, and it was being portrayed in the same skin I'm in...LOL I watched the movie in ATL on the opening night. My friends and I made a somewhat last minute decision to make the trek from Memphis to ATL. The opening night was my birthday as well so, I was going with or without them! Further deepening the meaning of the night for me, it was also that same day that I wrote an open letter to my family, friends, colleagues, and really the world saying that I was gay. I called some and wrote to others. Here's the entry on my blog (click here). It was a day full of ups and downs but this movie capped it off for me very well. On that day and night I cried (as Brandon did when telling his family he was gay and desiring to run into the comforting arms of those who would understand), I remembered love (as did Noah and Wade - my partner and I have been together nearly 9 years and the movie showed us that marriage is a possibility and coming closer to a state near us. Also, I can relate to how Alex and Trey struggled in their relationship. But can't we all?), and I celebrated with the best friends I could ask for or even imagine (they celebrated my birthday, coming out, and just life.) In summary, I think the greatest measure of a movie's success is the impact it has on the viewers. Our community supported this movie in every market in which it was shown because we identified with the characters AND we wanted to show the world that we are here and our lives include the same trials and triumphs as theirs. For me, this movie and the TV show has helped me to come to terms with many things in my life as a black gay man but, most of all it gave and continues to give me hope. Noah's Arc Trivia Questions

I love Noah's Arc, I had recently moved to Florida and I was going through so much. At the time I had my first boyfriend at my university and it was hard trying to be discreet (not DL cause Im not trying to lead females on) but he would never watch the show with me. I use to sit curled up on the couch and watch Season 1 and hope it would stay on for an extra hour. I loved the show because it had masculine and effeminate traits to it and it balanced well. Although life for an up-north moved down south men is not like the lives of Los Angeles gays. I still related with the situations they faced. Moving in with someone, cheating, std. hiv prevention, and the many things we face as black gay man. If the black community could open their hearts to their children maybe we would not faces the problems that we have at such an alarming rate. Stinking around to be with someone and pretending to be straight. It's hard out here being 24 and only have my moms support in my sexual orientation. This show has broke ground more so recently after the movie and I have been watching Noah's Arc since 2006. One day I'll be able to face my fears and open up to all my friends, but sometimes we risk violence and resentment for telling who we really are.
