I said I wasn't going to do it, but in the end I did. I had to respond to the Raz B videos and the allegations of child molestation by Chris Stokes. I believe my views are a little different than what's being said in the blogosphere. Get into it and let me know what you think.

Happy New Year!

Hey Darian.
i'm glad you put that video out there. I was shocked by the way people reacted to Raz B's video, making fun of him or whatnot, turning this into a gay issue. I posted comments here and there on people's blog and wrote a little something on mine to underline just what you said: this is not about being gay or not, it's about child molestation !!
But reading those comments, it kinda dawned on me that those reactions that were shocking me, Raz B had anticipated them .. he knew how people were going to react and maybe that was a way for him (probably not a good one, but HIS way) to make people focus on the molestation. You know how people's representation of gay people are.. if he had said that he was, people, especially in that industry, would've probably thought that he was more than willing to go through what he did ... i think he just wanted to show that he really was the victim
I know it's going to sound like I'm making excuses for him but i'm not really. I couldn't agree more with you : being gay and being a molester are not the same thing and people SHOULD KNOW that by now. And, like you, I really didn't like it when he said he was not gay, that he was a "real" man. But, Darian, can we really blame the kid ?? He's talking about being abused by his cousin when he was younger.. that issue alone is big enough as it is.. What he said is not right, but there is no need for us to get mad at him over that. maybe we could be a little more understanding with him, especially with everything he's going through right now. there are bigger issues here than the one of gay men being real men or not.
So yeah, all I wanted to say is that I TOTALLY understand and share your point of view regarding that gay representation matter but we shouldn't get too offended right now or get mad at Raz B about those few words because he's going public about being molested !, he needs some support now more than ever, regardless of what he said about being a "real" man. After his cameo in Noah's Arc and things of that nature, the gay community should know that this is not really what he thinks .. he was talking to people who are pretty narrow-minded when it comes to homosexuality and he just wanted to get his point across about the molestation.
