I don't think I ever want to watch American Idol again. The show is quickly losing it's credibility with me. First we had to endure Sanjaya for half of the season and now we have to say goodbye to the best singer and most consistent performer on the show, Melinda Doolittle. I should have known the voters and American Idol producers were going to pull a stunt like this, there is no way that Blake should still be left standing and Melinda is sent packing.
Randy Jackson predicted that if the final two were about pure singing ability then Jordin and Melinda would be in the finale, well I should have known that talent alone wouldn't have been enough to guarantee Melinda a spot. Think about what we listen to on the radio everyday, not very many successful singers have the chops that Melinda does and they're still selling millions of albums and selling out arenas.
Although she was eliminated I'm sure she will still have a wondeful career, her talent is undeniabe. But what in the hell was America thinking?!! But on the flip side, Jennifer Hudson was eliminated too and look at her now. Don't even get me started on Reuben Studdard and Taylor Hicks. Did you just ask yourself who are they? I rest my case.

This is the best thing for her. She can now get her own contract and not be pigeonholed by the Idol curse. Shes free like j-hud. Seriously though I'm sure the public opinion came down to looks. Shes cute shes not pretty. Jordan Sparks has idol looks and definitely talent. I'm just concerned that at her age she is taking on a huge task. Blake could win. All those teen girls voting their asses off can really make a difference and he is across the board likeable. I really want Jordan to win. I was pretty sure Melinda wouldn't win just based on her looks.

I feel the same way Darian, this is Travis and you and I both said that t wouldn't be right if the idol didnt have some foolishness going on this season and it shows that they have had their fair share. 1st it was Miss Sanjaya and now it's Melinda getting voted off, but on the the flip side like you said look at all that came out for J Hud and the same thing could and will happen for Melinda.

Becomin' a successful singer is no longer about talent---it's more about a person's appearance. Just look at our singers today? There will NEVER be another Aretha Franklin or Patti LaBelle as long as superficial beings still exist. Melinda was voted off 'cause of her appearance not her singin' chops. Blake's a cutie wit' a booty but a sorry-ass singer. I've been sayin' this since day one...we don't see the votes so what REALLY goes on behind closed doors??

Although I live in the UK, I got to see Melinda Doolittle live in Nashville almost exactly two years ago. It was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had.
I just wish I could make it to Feinstein's this next week, but sadly that is just not possible.
If you can get to New York don't miss the opportunity.
