Living Out Loud with Darian

The black homosexual and the church, two worlds that don't mix well with each other, or at least not when the homosexual is out and an active participant in the church, dare I say "anointed".

Recently we've stood by and watched prominent black clergy sell their pulpits to the highest bidders, aka the religious right wing as they used our people to further divide the community around lesbian and gay issues.

It's almost an every Sunday occurence that some black minister is preaching intolerance and homophobia from the pulpit all in the name of God, or should I say Leviticus 18:22 and the beautiful story of Sodom and Gomorrah that is used to make every sissy cringe in their seat and want to run to the nearest exit.

I can't speak for everyone in the black SGL community, but I'm at the point where my relationship with Christ and the need to be spiritually fed surpasses the BS of the black church, so I must let it go.

So you can imagine the peace I felt when I walked into The Vision Church of Atlanta pastored by Rev. O.C. Allen III. The mission statement of the church was enough to let me know that this was a special place, a place where I could go and repair a relationship with God that had been severely damaged because of the "black church".

To say that God showed up would be an understatement, not only did he show up but he showed out! If you're ever in Atlanta and you're looking for a place to be spiritually fed, you should definitely give Vision a try.

Following service I had the pleasure of attending brunch and a stroll in Piedmont Park with two new friends DJ and LT. LT is a fellow blogger with an amazing entertainment site, his writing is also featured in the new issue of Clik magazine where he interviews Noah's Arc creator Patrik-Ian Polk.

Everyday I live I thank God for my blessings, but today I had to thank him for everything that has happened to me over the past 5 months as a result of writing this blog. God knows just the right people to place in your life.
